DHL Oslo City Hub
On 13 August 2021, DHL opened its new hub at Filipstad. From Filipstad, DHL Express will distribute all-electric within central Oslo (Ring 3). From here, there will be 12 electrical routes, which will make DHL Express' distribution fully electric within Ring 3. Eight vans, three Paxters and one cargo-bike will be responsible for the distribution.
– Sustainability is our responsibility and a commitment to sustainability is an integral part of our corporate culture, said CEO of DHL Express, Terje Aarbog during the opening, which he made together with Minister of Climate and Environmental Protection Sveinung Rotevatn.
From the new hub right by the highway E18 towards the city center, the volume will initially be around 1.000 consignments a day, Aarbog says.
The new hub at Filipstad is part of a major green initiative by DHL globally, which has set aside seven billion euros to cut as much CO2-emissions as possible by 2030. Among other things, 12 fully electric cargo planes have been ordered, which will be on the wings within two to three years. The goal is ultimately to be completely emission-free by 2050. In Norway, the goal is for 70% of last mile deliveries to be emission-free by 2025.
– The investment in DHL Oslo City Hub will further put DHL Express on the map among future players in green logistics. In DHL Express Norway, we have set ourselves a local goal that 70% of our last-mile deliveries will be emission-free by 2025, concludes Aarbog.

Posten Oslo City Hub
On 16 August 2021, Posten opened its new all-electric distribution centre at Filipstad in Oslo, Posten Oslo City Hub. The new city hub ensures that all parcel delivery within central Oslo (Ring 2) will take place with electric vehicles.
– The opening of Posten Oslo City Hub marks an important milestone for us in Oslo. Now all parcel and mail delivery within Ring 2 will be fossil-free. It is also a great pleasure to announce that we have now ordered 90 new electric vehicles to be used for parcel delivery in the capital. If these are delivered as agreed, all parcel and mail delivery in the capital will take place with fossil-free vehicles by New Year, Posten’s CEO Tone Wille said in connection with the opening.
With the opening of the Oslo City Hub, Posten will deliver between 15.000 and 20.000 packages a week fossil-free, in central Oslo. In connection with the opening of the Oslo City Hub, eight fossil-powered vehicles will be replaced by eight electric vans.
The official opening of Posten Oslo City Hub was made by Postens’s CEO Tone Wille and City Councilor Raymond Johansen.
– I am very happy to be here when Posten once again shows that they are part of the solution. It is together with forward-looking businesses that we reach our climate goals, said City Councilor Raymond Johansen.

Filipstad Mobility Park
On 26 August 2019, Ruter Oslo's first mobility park opened at Filipstad in Oslo, Filipstad Mobility Park. Station-based electric cars and electric bicycles are offered to the population for 24-hour disposal as a supplement to other forms of transport in the city. The offer makes it easier for more people to get around Oslo without using a private car.
– Earlier this month, the city council presented a climate strategy. Oslo will be the world’s first emission-free city, and the new mobility park at Filipstad will make it easier for more people to get around the city in an efficient and environmentally friendly way. It provides cleaner air and a nicer city for all of us, says Raymond Johansen, city council leader in connection with the opening.
Filipstad Mobility Park consists of 9 freight containers and a charging station with a solar cell roof with a capacity for 8 electric cars and various electric bicycles. er. The mobility park has a footprint of approx. 450 sqm including building and charging area. The building includes a bicycle sale / workshop and on the outside, 2 parcel boxes have been placed in a collaboration with the Norwegian Postal Service, Posten Norge.
– Never before have more people traveled by bicycle, electric car or public transport in Oslo, and this is still just the beginning. We are now implementing the largest public transport investment since the metro was built after the war, with new trams, several electric buses, 5-minute departures on the metro and a new metro line to Fornebu. Today we open Oslo’s first mobility park, which will make it even easier to travel in an environmentally friendly way, says Lan Marie Berg, leader of Oslo Municipality’s Environment and Transport division.
The project has been realized through a collaboration between Filipstad Utvikling (Cityhubs), the Port of Oslo, Ruter, Move About, MMW Arkitekter, Spesialcontainer, Statens Vegvesen and Oslo Municipality/Bymiljøetaten.

DB Schenker Oslo City Hub
On 8 May 2019, the same year that Oslo had the status of Europe's Environmental Capital, DB Schenker opened its first city hub for emission-free distribution of goods at Filipstad in Oslo, DB Schenker Oslo City Hub.
The centrally located terminal reduces Schenker’s CO2 emissions related to goods distribution in Oslo by almost 100% by means of electric trucks, electric vans and electric cargo bikes. With the help of a total of 23 electric vehicles that distribute around 1,000 shipments per day, Schenker reduces its CO2 emissions by approx. 400 tonnes per year. In addition, there is reduced traffic as a result of a more rational and efficient urban logistics.
DB Schenker Oslo City Hub is built using 45 shipping containers and has a footprint of approx. 720 sqm including niches for car parking. The terminal is designed for efficient cross docking of goods, and is equipped with 15 cargo ports. In addition, the terminal houses two offices, an area for cross docking and intermediate storage, as well as meeting rooms, a dining room and a cloakroom.
Focus on the environment and sustainable solutions in the transport sector has been given great attention in the DB Schenker Group.
– In Norway, we have prioritized environmental efforts for many years, and in recent years there has been significant investment in offering environmentally friendly logistics solutions for business and industry by investing in electric vehicles, says Lars Sveen, director of Domestic Land Transport in Schenker AS.
The business community and the company’s customers are increasingly demanding solutions that take better care of the environment. The market thus places stricter requirements on the carrier’s logistics solutions both in terms of sustainability and the environment.
DB Schenker Oslo City Hub is the result of a successful public-private partnership between Filipstad Utvikling (Cityhubs), the Port of Oslo, DB Schenker, MMW Arkitekter, Spesialcontainer and Oslo Municipality/Bymiljøetaten.
